Welcome to the Mad Max Locations page. This site has been created to showcase the locations used in the original 1979 Mad Max film through the use of screenshots and Google Street View, Google Maps and photographs. The aim of this is mainly twofold – to give a ‘then and now’ look at each location, and to provide easier navigation to them through Google technologies, especially if you wish to visit them.

I do wish to make it clear that all of the main locations were found by others, a diligent few who have access to the locations and know more about the original filming setup. These were taken from the websites listed below. However, I have also found a handful of locations that haven’t been documented anywhere else before using Google Street View and Google Maps. I have also had to manually find all locations through Google Maps from the directions provided from these websites and put them into this website. The best bit in creating this site is placing everything into order as it appeared in the film so that readers can go through all locations as they appear in the film.

The credit for these main locations – and I will add to this list as and when I use other sources – go to:

Individuals

David Larter – an authority on the locations used – kindly provided me with a KMZ file with pinned locations. Has also contributed a wealth of on-location photos to the Facebook groups below and constant feedback to any queries or potential locations I’ve found. I thank him for his huge contribution.
Melvin Zed – has a good blog site here with in-person photos of the locations – check it out, it’s excellent.
